Story
On the evening of Saturday 14 September 2013 at Holy Trinity Church on Clapham Common I shall be participating in a barefoot walk across burning coals to raise money for Calcutta Rescue.
Calcutta Rescue provides free medical care to people in and around Kolkata suffering from everything from malnutrition and skin diseases to leprosy, TB and cancer, as well as free education for slum children. Each year it helps more than 40,000 people on the edge of survival. Many more need this help.
To continue this work, Calcutta Rescue urgently needs additional funds.
I have been actively involved with Calcutta Rescue for nearly 20 years: first, as a volunteer working in the street clincs in Kolkata; and subsequently as a trustee of the UK charity established to fundraise for Calcutta Rescue.
I should be extremely grateful if you might sponsor me to undertake this walk and thereby help keep these vital projects for the poorest of Kolkata going.
There are no paid staff in the UK charity so all money raised goes to Kolkata, where a little goes a long way. www.calcuttarescue.org.uk.
Many many thanks for your very generous support.
Very best wishes
Angus
