As a family we decided to do some fundraising to support JDRF UK, who fund Type 1 diabetes research to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes.  Oliver was diagnosed at 20 months old, when he picked up a virus which attacked the cells in his pancreas. This meant that he could not produce insulin. He was very ill and almost fell into a coma. Thankfully he was diagnosed in time. He now relies on an insulin pump and glucose sensor to administer insulin which basically keeps him alive and well. Thanks to advancements in technology, Oliver leads a full and healthy life but it still requires lots of work as he has to test his blood sugars regulary, make adjustments when he eats, exercises or is unwell and change and wear devices inserted into his body to regulate his blood sugars.

Due to the pandemic, alot of charities have suffered financially so we decided as a family to help raise funds by doing our own virtual run, walk, cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End. The total distance is 874 miles (1,407 km) which we hope to complete on Olivers' 13th birthday on 25th March 2021. I hope you can support us for this worthy cause.
