Story
For around 6 years I have struggled with a number of health issues. Slipped discs in my neck and gall stones being the main problems. In Sept 2021 I had my gall bladder removed and I decided that this was my year to get healthy. So I entered my first half marathon due to be run in October 2022. Training went really well and I lost around three stone in weight. I was able to reduce my pain medication and was feeling great. Three weeks before my run I got a hip injury which stopped my training for several months. I am committed to raising money for TEAR Fund , who do amazing relief work around the world. This incentive has kept me determined to cross the finish line.
I am running to raise funds to provide people like Tamam, from Syria, with life-saving support to rebuild their lives. When armed groups entered Tamam's village they cut off the electricity and running water. With no other option, she took her children and they ran for their lives.Tamam's home is now two rooms in a settlement in Lebanon. It is cramped and dangerous. Life is hard, but there are fragments of hope.Tearfund's local partner is in the heart of the settlement. They provide schooling, trauma counselling and healthcare, as well as business training. Tamam was invited to join their sewing programme. Her new skills now provide her with an income and she can feed her family.Tearfund is a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than 50 of the worlds poorest countries tackling poverty and injustice through sustainable development, by responding to disasters & challenging injustice. Thank you for your generosity in giving people like Taman hope for the future.
So my new goal will be to complete the Tonbridge half marathon in Oct 2023. My original race , a year later..
Thankyou to all my supporters and those who have pledged and donated so far.
