Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our little boy Harry was diagnosed with cancer 28th April 2012 there are no words to describe the shock. It was like being hit by a bus but we battled through as a family with amazing support from friends, family and Candlelighters. Harry Is in remission and we pray everyday for this to continue.
Ann Louise has had the opportunity to utilise her skills as a designer to help the charity to create 'Candlelighter's Cottage' to provide a 'home from home' environment for families going through exactly what we did.
When Harry was diagnosed we had to set up camp in the hospital and stay in Eckersly house whilst he underwent treatment. Unfortunately Eckersly House is very often oversubscribed so Candlelighters had an opportunity to buy a property close to the hospital to provide extra accommodation for families to stay in during this upsetting and distressful time.
Not only will it provide a bedroom that is a quiet, comfortable and calm place where they can get a good nights sleep. It will also provide a homely place for children who are well enough to leave the ward during a break in their treatment to visit and spend time with their family.
What is also great is it will give an opportunity for families to use the shared areas to interact with other people in a similar position, gaining strength from sharing stories and confidences.
Every penny that is donated to our page will go towards the finishing touches for this home including furniture, toys, household appliances even cups and saucers. As you can imagine this is very close to our hearts and is wonderful that we can raise funds for a specific project so please if you can help us raise a few pennies for this worthy cause.
