London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

The charity buys roundabout wells for communities in Africa. As children play on the roundabout they pump clean water up into a large holding tank. A single well costs just £6,500 to install and can provide up to 2000 people with fresh water.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

I’m running the London Marathon in 2020 dressed in an inflatable Unicorn outfit. Why? Because I want to raise as much money as possible for Lawrence’s Roundabout Well Appeal.

This brilliant charity raises money to build wells in Southern Africa, which are pumped by a children’s roundabout at the surface. The benefits of these wells are:

- a community gets access clean, safe water
- more girls get to go to school, rather than collect daily water
- children get to experience play equipment and have fun
- the water storage tank advertises health education messages to manage preventable diseases

It’s a brilliant concept. ALL of you money will go directly towards the cost of building a well (7.5k per well), and the ongoing maintenance is paid for by commercial advertising also on the water storage tank. The health of a community is transformed though this one self-sustaining well. Here to

The charity was founded in memory of a little boy called Lawrence, who loved to play.

Running 26 miles in fancy dress is going to be hard, hot work. It’s something I’ve never done before and I’d be truly honoured to run with your donation spurring me on.

Thank you for reading.
