Story
Amy and Friends is a registered charity that supports children and families who suffer with Cockayne Syndrome/TTD or related DNA repair disorders. The current average life expectancy for these children is 8 years and currently there is no treatment or cure! The charity supports over 500 families weekly and works closely with the medical profession. They do an amazing job with no support from government.
We are totally dedicated to supporting this charity and have numerous events and fundraisers planned including a great evening in London with our top Travel Agents but the highlight is a 270 mile charity cycle ride to raise awareness and funds from Venice to Milan. on the 22nd of June 2022.
We will also be joined by some of the family members of those children with Cockayne Syndrome as well as some of our close travel partners, Azure clients, family and friends. Many have never cycled before any distance..
Amy Hughes of Amy and Friends was an inspiration to us all and was one one of the worlds oldest living people with CS, she made it to 28 years old but then sadly passed away during the pandemic. Amy couldn't talk or walk and had a long list of illnesses including cancer. Despite all of this, she was always smiling, blowing kisses and was an inspiration to us all. Amy's sister Laura will be joining Team Azure on this challenge too and we will be cycling not just for the children today that have have this disease but those that are no longer with us but their smiles and the joy they brought to their parents and family live on in all our hearts.
