Story
The challenge
I’m excited and very nervous to tell you that on October 2nd 2022 I will be running the TCS London Marathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. As many of you know I started running regularly at the
start of the pandemic, to keep myself and others around me sane! I’ve now been running for a few years, with the fabulous support from the ladies at Clwb Athletau Aberystwyth.
I’ve decided to step it up a gear and set myself a challenge to run a marathon before I hit the big 40, in January 2023. 26.2 miles is going to certainly be a challenge for me!
The charity
The charity I have chosen to run for is Macmillan Cancer
Support. I will be running to support those who are fighting cancer, who live with it day in, day out, for those who are no longer with us, and for those who have been cured and saved, thanks to charities like Macmillan.
As many of you know, three years ago my husband, Rob, underwent gruelling but successful chemotherapy and radiotherapy for head and
neck cancer. Watching him fight this terrible disease has inspired me to run the TCS London Marathon, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. It’s my way of thanking them, and giving something back to a charity that gives so much, to so many.
There are around three million people living with cancer in
the UK today and over 360, 000, more diagnosed every year.
The support
Why am I telling you this? Because I need your help. I’m hoping you will sponsor my big run in the Big Smoke. If you’re able to donate
anything from a pound, upwards I will be incredibly grateful. The money I raise will help this charity flourish and continue to provide invaluable support to cancer patients and their families, fund research and provide healthcare professionals with tools and training.
Thank you so much for backing me,
Love Anna x
