Story
My Dad spent years and years with failing Kidneys, finally having a transplant when his condition got a LOT worse. SEKPA were in the front line of the ward supporting and aiding him and others during this time. It really is amazing the effort the team go to and I'd love to give something back to help them.
SEKPA (South Eastern Kidney Patients Association) supports kidney patients and their carers in South East England. Its a non profitable charity run only by volunteers, most of whom are kidney patients.
SEKPA volunteers therefore know where the extra efforts need to be made therefore spend there time concentrating on:
- supporting patients and families personally. I've seen them working Christmas day handing out presents and carol singing to make it a little easier for the kids
- raise money to purchase additional equipment for the wards. Last year they managed to buy the latest dialysis machines, reverse osmosis water purifies and some extra chairs and beds thanks to their good work fundraising.
- support research into kidney disease. Like all conditions, more money into research means more chance of preventing and aiding those suffering.
