We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

Paul was diagnosed with a brain tumour on May 3rd 2021 and sadly passed away on August 8th peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Glioblastoma Multiforme also GBM 4 are fast growing tumours. They can diffuse which means they have threadlike tendrils which extend to other parts of the brain.  Paul showed signs of confusion and was admitted to Addenbrookes hospital for urgent treatment but sadly the tumour was so extensive and aggressive that only palliative radiotherapy was offered as treatment. If there were any positives throughout this, Paul was unaware on a day to day basis of his diagnosis, his short term memory was massively affected so he had no awareness of how little time he had left with his family nor his diagnosis. The reason why GBMs develop are still undergoing investigation and research is looking at genetic and molecular changes that occur within the cells. Your donation will go towards this vital research and support patients and families who are experiencing this awful disease. About 3 to 4 new cases of glioblastoma are diagnosed each year per 100,000 people in the UK and glioblastoma is still classed as a rare cancer.

I can't express just how much Paul will be missed by all that knew him, his children, parents, sister, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, his friends and his work colleagues. He was a true gentleman, honest, hard working, supportive, funny, loving and caring family man.

He leaves behind 2 children, Grace and Joe to whom he was an amazing father full of love and fun.

Thank you to those friends who have helped get us through the last 3 months, you know who you are and I am forever grateful. Thanks also to Addenbrookes Hospital, Bedfordshire Palliative Care Team, Raynsford Academy, Henlow Academy, the FCA, Vaccination UK, Rev, Shaun Speller, The Brain Tumour Support Charity for who I will be organising a separate fund raising event, and my new friends who have shared their experiences within The Brain Tumour Charity group.
