Anna Vasculitis UK is raising money for Vasculitis UK
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease ANCA Vasculits in 2018. This affected many parts of my body including my lungs and kidneys.
My treatment has meant I have had to shield for the last 4.5 months. Luckily, due to where I live I have been able to go outside without meeting people and decided to start running. Initially I did Couch to 5k but then continued running further and decided I would try and train for a marathon! This has not been easy due to my lung damage and requiring rituximab again in August.
I also suffer from hypothyroidism and my son has Graves disease (hyperthyroidism) so am running to raise money for both Vasculitis UK and the British Thyroid Foundation.

Thank you so much for your support. This journey has been really tough over the last 3 years and at times I have barely been able to walk so never thought I would be attempting to run a marathon. Anna
For many people having vasculitis is a life-changing experience which affects every aspect of life. It also affects those around - family and friends as well as the ability to work. Some are left with permanent physical damage or disability or psychological damage.
The aims of Vasculitis UK are:
-To support those suffering from vasculitis diseases and their families by providing information and advice.
-To inform and educate those with vasculitis about their illness so that they are empowered to take greater control of it.
-To work with other organisations and medical professionals to improve the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of vasculitis diseases.
-To raise awareness of vasculitis disease among medical professionals and the general population.
-To enable vasculitis sufferers to contact others with vasculitis.
-To encourage and support the formation and development of local vasculitis support groups.
-To support research into the causes and effects of vasculitis and into improvements in the diagnosis of vasculitis and into treatment of people suffering from different types of vasculitis.
They are a small charity and rely on donations and fundraising to continue their work.
