Story
This summer I am going to be taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa reaching 5,895m at the summit, in support of The Children’s Society. This will be both a physical and mental challenge, for which I will have to train intensively and fundraise. However, I am extremely excited and honoured to do it for such a worthy and effective charity. The Children’s Society helps young people cope with a range of different situations that a child simply should not be exposed to, such as sexual and criminal exploitation, poverty, parental substance misuse and flight from war zones. These factors can significantly impact a child’s state of mental health and such traumas can, if not properly dealt with, scar them for the rest of their lives. The Children’s Society offers mental health support, counselling and advice, and also provides assistance in guiding children through the complex social care and justice systems in the UK.
The Children's Society works to try and ensure that every child it comes into contact with has an equal chance in life to succeed in whatever area they may choose and is not held back by missing out on a good education or other issues stemming from a lack of childhood mental health care.
I hope you can all support me in trying to raise money for such an important cause, even a small contribution can make a huge difference. Thank you so much, you are doing something truly amazing!
