Anna's 40 Swims

Anna 40 Swims · 29 April 2018
I started this challenge in January, to raise money for a charity close to my heart, Brain Tumour Research and to set myself a task in my 40th year. At this time I have completed 11/40 of my swims.

On April 13th, my partner Josh was suddenly diagnosed with Leukemia. He was immediately admitted into the BRI, where he has been cared for and treated since. I have been staying here with him, and have been overwhelmed with admiration and respect for the hospital staff. The housekeepers, porters, nurses, nursing assistants, consultants, radiologists, surgeons, each and every person we have met has been kind, reassuring, patient, hard working and thorough.
My family members, my friends family members, my friends, we are all touched in some way by this wonderful resource and these hard working NHS staff.
Having already, amazingly hit my target just 11 swims in for Brain Tumour Research, it felt right to change my fundraiser to the 'Above and Beyond' charity which will directly help the Bristol hospitals, and fundamentally, help all of us.
To all those people asking what they can do to help me and Josh, if you want to help in any way, you can donate to my fundraiser and support your local Bristol hospitals charity. I now have first hand knowledge of how the money is used.
