Story
Annabelle is taking part in the 30in30 Evelina/ St Thomas' challenge by bouncing 30 circuits of her trampoline for 30 days. She would love it if you could help her raise money for their coronavirus appeal to support the NHS teams who looked after her when she was critically ill.
Five years ago today (30 April), Annabelle arrived at Paediatric Intensive Care in Evelina and was put into a medically induced coma and ventilated to try to save her life after she contracted meningitis and sepsis. For over a month she remained semi conscious, blind, deaf, with little motor function and with no serious prospect for improvement. Thanks to the support of everyone at Evelina and the wider team at St Thomas', Annabelle's life was saved and as she started to improve, they cared for her every need medical and otherwise. As a family we were supported in every way at the most difficult time. Nurses, doctors, technicians, therapists, counsellors, administrators, cleaners, caterers, shop staff, volunteers in Evelina and St Thomas made us feel Annabelle could not have been anywhere better. Annabelle still spends alot of time at Evelina and St Thomas' seeing many of their teams and we never feel anything other than at home there because of their amazing support.
The staff at Evelina and St Thomas' have been on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis from day one. All the money that Annabelle raises will help to support the team in every aspect of their wellbeing, from access to supermarket essentials to comforting spaces to rest during long shifts.
Annabelle is looking forward to bouncing her way to her £500 target! Thank you so much if you are able to support her.
