Welcome to the Reading Climbs Kilimanjaro 2022 campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

On 28th August 2022 I will begin a 10 day hike up Mount Kilimanjaro with 40 peers from both the University Of Reading and the University Of Exeter. I will be doing this climb to raise money and support the Meningitis Research Foundation, who's aim is to have a cure for Meningitis by 2030! Seeing as Meningitis and newborn Sepsis are responsible for the deaths of more children under the age of 5 than Malaria, Measles, Tetanus and AIDs combined, it is a foundation I feel very passionately about supporting. I will be doing a variety of challenges to reach my fundraising goal throughout the year, primarily fitness related ones to help me train for my trek...although I am open to any suggestions that people may have ! Any contributions at all towards this fantastic cause would be hugely appreciated. Seeing as I have never raised more than about £100 before, this is a huge challenge for me to accept, but one I am excited to try my best at! I will be posting about any fundraising events I participate in to keep everyone updated about my journey to raising £3.6k, and would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone that has contributed so far. Annabelle Xx

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
