Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
To put into words what running the Edinburgh marathon and supporting this amazing charity means to me is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
8 years ago I had hit rock bottom, I was severely anorexic and weeks away from hospitalisation. The eating disorder took over my life and the pain and suffering it caused me, my family and friends is still tough to look back on. The road to recovery has not been easy, it’s been an incredibly bumpy ride to say the least and that’s not just for myself, but also those around me and I am so grateful to those who supported and stood by me all the way.
Eating disorders are incredibly misunderstood illnesses and ever since I started my recovery journey, I have wanted to use my experience to raise awareness about them. It is something you can only truly understand if you have been through it. Helping people understand what the illness is; the impact it has on the sufferer and those around them; whilst also showing that there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can come out the other side to live the life you deserve, is something very close to my heart.
Beat are a truly amazing charity and their vision to end the pain and suffering caused by ED’s is so inspiring and important. Their resources have supported so many people, including myself and my family, and being able to give back to them so they can continue their work is an honour.
Any donation, no matter how large or small, would be hugely appreciated :)
