Story

My name is Annabel. I am 12 years old and live in Farnham. Things have been very different for our family and everyone this year - school learning online, lockdown rules and all the news about people losing their jobs or affected in other ways by coronovirus. I wanted to do something to cheer people up and help others, especially my local community in Farnham. So I had the idea of doing 12 good deeds before Christmas.

1) One of these is to donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust which creates wigs for young people with cancer and other conditions. I have been growing my hair since I was six years old and it's now down to my waist, so it's a big deal for me to cut it all off - but it's going to a good cause! COMPLETE!

2) I will also be collecting food and donating it to the Farnham Food Bank - COMPLETED 18/12.

3) Baking lemon drizzle cakes and mince pies for the residents and staff of Anchorstone care home in Farnham. COMPLETED 22/11.

4) Sponsored Duathlon with my friends, where we will run and cycle in Alice Holt forest (within the Covid rules of course!) COMPLETED 12/11!

5) Selling calendars on behalf of the Hedgehogs charity which helps local families in need. Raised £72 - COMPLETED 11/11!

6) Helping Bourne Conservation Society take care of the Old Churchyard garden and other community areas. COMPLETED 6/12!

7) Create a Christmas shoebox with treats for people in need - COMPLETED 18/12

8) Carry out deeds to help neighbours, like washing cars, sweeping leaves, feeding and looking after pets when the owners are away, walking a dog. COMPLETED!

9) Helping the RSPB to create more heathland by taking part in a Pine Pull (with Scouts) - COMPLETED 12/12.

10) Litter picking in local parks - COMPLETED.

11) Donating toiletries and cleaning products for people in the UK who can't afford these - COMPLETED 18/12.

12) My 5th Farnham Scouts group couldn't hold their usual jumble sales this year so I want to help raise some money for them by selling my old toys, books and clothes on ebay. COMPLETED - RAISED £55! (19th Nov)

I will update this page as I complete each one - watch this space!

Altogether, I am aiming to raise £200 which will be donated to the Farnham Food Bank. Thanks for helping me help other people and put a smile on as many faces as possible!
