London to Paris Cycle Ride · 25 October 2019
Our daughter Anna is doing a personal challenge of a cycle ride London to Paris this October half term. She is doing it with her dad and they are both very excited about it.
By asking friends and family to support Anna's challenge, we would like to raise awareness about sepsis, make people look up at the early symptoms and support the charity, UK Sepsis Trust, which is pushing the country to become a better place in preventative healthcare.
What is sepsis? Sepsis is the body's overwhelming response to infection that can lead to multiple organ failures and death; it can affect any age group, from newborns to elderly. A few truly shocking facts:
- although treatable, sepsis kills five people every hour in the UK
- it is responsible for more deaths in the UK than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined
- the research shows that the UK sepsis death rate is five times higher than Europe's best-performing country
Please join us in supporting this charity! All of the money raised will help the UK Sepsis Trust achieve its aim of saving 14,000 lives in the UK every year. For more information about the work of UK Sepsis Trust, please visit www.sepsistrust.org.
