Story
I am a 13 year old, mad-keen hockey player from Worcester, I collapsed during a school PE lesson in November 2017 and was subsequently diagnosed with a rare form of heart disease for which there is no cure.
I have had to stop PE lessons and all competitive sports including hockey, which is unbelievably unfair because these were my favourite things.
I now need a heart transplant.
My new “Hockey Heart” will save my life and allow me play hockey again. I can’t wait for that day to happen, but it also makes me sad to think that another person will lose their life in order to save mine.
Did you know children can sign up to the organ donor register? I am registered and so is my sister and my parents. Did you also know that one donor can save or improve the lives of up to 9 people?
Please make sure you and your family are registered for organ donation if that is what you believe in and have a conversation about it.... over dinner.... in the car.... whilst out walking. This makes the decision to donate organs less traumatic for everyone during those very difficult hours immediately after a family bereavement.
British Heart Foundation currently funds over 1000 research projects aimed at finding a cure for heart disease which affects more people in the UK than cancer, yet is largely undiagnosed.
Please help me to raise funds to help this vital research work to continue.
