Orangutan Veterinary Aid supplies essential medicines, equipment and veterinary expertise to orangutan rescue groups and rescue teams in Indonesia and Malaysian Borneo. The charity shares knowledge, educates and works to improve the welfare of this critically endangered species.

Story

Our names are Ann and Peter Layton.  We are raising funds for OVAID, a charity set up by Nigel Hicks and Sara Fell.  OVAID is dedicated to improving orangutan welfare through providing essential veterinary medical aid to rescue groups working in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Sara Fell is a glass artist whose amazing jewellery we have shown in our gallery.  She is married to vet, Nigel Hicks.  For the past nine years they have devoted several months each year to Orangutan rescue in Borneo. We are totally inspired by their commitment and extraordinary generosity in giving their time, energy and personal funding to this mission.   We are delighted to have the rare opportunity to visit Borneo, and to travel with Nigel and Sara, to see the amazing work being done by vets at the rescue centres.  As a condition of going on this trip, we are required to make a donation of £1,800, separate from the cost of travel. All the money raised via our page here, goes directly to OVAID. For more information about this excellent organisation, please visit www.ovaid.org
