A diagnosis of dementia is life changing for the patient, their family and friends. But the diagnosis does not mean that life is over, just different.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those of you who already know me, you will be aware that I like my food hence the reason why I need to lose the weight.  When taking stock of my life and seeing all the challenges that my family and friends have had over the past few years, I have decided to do something that will change my life.  2016 will be the year that I get healthy and a massive part of this will be losing weight and getting fit in preparation for my climb to the Summit on Mount Snowdon on July 16th 2016.  I know it's going to be hard and I know a lot of you probably won't believe I can succeed as you have heard it all before, same old story I'm starting a diet on Monday and give up on Tuesday.  But instead of thinking those negative thoughts, how about you sponsor me instead?  To see sponsors coming in and donating money to a charity that is incredibly close to my heart, will be all the motivation that I need.

I'm donating to Dementia Care as 9 years ago I lost my lovely dad to this horrible disease.  If some of my money could go to the family and friends of people going through this to then I'm sure it would make life for them a little easier. If I had known about this charity at the time my dad was going through this terrible disease I would have done this a long time ago.  My Mum cared for my dad herself and nearly wore herself out as she refused to put him in a home and for her to see her husband, my dad to go through this must have been absolutely heartbreaking, I did not realise how hard things got for her until it was too late.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.  So it's most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
