We are escaping lockdown and rowing/paddling, walking cycling, and walking the 16,521 km to Runcorn (near Brisbane) in Australia. We are fundraising to develop a new boathouse with a much needed gym, changing and community social area.

Story

I started rowing in January 2020 and joined a fabulous local group, Runcorn Rowing club.  We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) that ‘encourages life styles and values that benefit the local community’ (RRC development Plan Aug 2018). Our members include Liverpool University Rowing Club, Runcorn Canoe Club and the Runcorn Rowing Club (with members of all ages from 11-over 80, as well as beginners, schools and adaptive squads).  We are run and coached by a committee of volunteers, of which I am also a part.

The club is planning a virtual escape from lockdown to raise money for our new boathouse. We are rowing, paddling, running, walking and cycling the 16,521km from Runcorn in Halton to Runcorn in Brisbane, Australia. Our target is to raise over £8,000-£10,000 towards the planning application for our new clubhouse (overall we need in the region of £50,000 to cover planning fees, architects and baseline surveys).

Every member is clocking up 165km and we're asking for sponsorship from friends and family.   I'd be delighted if you could give me just £1 towards my target through this Just Giving page and I'll dedicate 1k of my virtual journey to you.  Please feel free to donate more, but even just £1 inches us ever closer to our target.

Thank you for your generous support.
