The club has really helped to improve Nigel’s self esteem as he knows that he’s still good at shooting and also given him a challenge to learn a new sport. The club has helped so many people to regain a sense of purpose through sport, and by informal support from other people with similar disabilities. It’s also great for Carers; lots of people to talk to and share experiences. 

SportsAble is a club where members do not let disability dictate what we can't do, rather we focus on what we can do and helps others do the same.Many of our members were on a very different journey before they came to us. Some were isolated, many overweight, nearly all were depressed - and they lead their lives without a clear purpose and focus. After joining SportsAble, they make friends, feel more positive and rediscover themselves, learning new skills and starting a new pathway towards physical and emotional wellbeing. SportsAble provides more than just sport. According to Scope (disability charity), 53% of disabled people say it's harder to make friends. (Scope). 68% of our members say they make new friends through the Club (2018 Impact Report). During Lockdown, 58% of our members did not socialise with anyone outside of their family; 96% of our members want a Club to to return to after the pandemic.
