At Macmillan, we will move mountains to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can. We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

This page is predominantly for friends and followers overseas who cannot donate to my main fundraising page: https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/anne-maningas

Having lost several of my colleagues to cancer over the 12 years of my railway career, I've decided to brave the shave (after my birthday!) to show my support for all of my railway family and friends we've lost, as well as those that have fought a good fight (or are still fighting) and are still with us.

Those of you that know me well know that I've had hair of varying lengths over the years in what has been a love-hate relationship. I've loved it at its longest, but then I've also loved it short-ish, but never feeling quite comfortable either way. My hair will grow back though... I hope! But shaving my hair is a choice and I appreciate that those that lose their hair due to chemotherapy don't have a choice with what happens to their hair.

My boss has kindly offered to shave off my hair, so there's a strong
likelihood this may become a bit of a work event at our Baker Street
office! Longer lengths of my hair will be tied back and cut in advance
as I am hoping my hair will be good enough to donate to the Little
Princess Trust – they do an amazing thing of making little wigs for kids
and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer or other
conditions.

Lastly, if anyone can make any recommendations for headscarves and the like, I would really appreciate that too as I'm very anxious about what
I'll look like without (much) hair!

Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support – they've helped out a few of my friends and colleagues over the years.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
