I'm super excited to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the Mental Health Foundation.
Third time lucky... I originally signed up to run this half marathon
with my lovely friend Helen in 2020, so though we completed our training plans, covid hit, and we weren't able to run it. Second time around, we signed up, but various injuries and difficulty getting into the right mindset meant that I decided to postpone to next year...so here we are!
This is a cause which is really close to my heart, as good mental health is something I care passionately about. I've been affected by the consequences of ill mental health, and been witness to the effect of mental health issues on some really special people close to me. I'm supporting the Mental Health Foundation because they concentrate on addressing the imbalance in mental health research by focusing on prevention of mental health problems.
We all know prevention is better than cure, but the research around mental health is limited, and therefore, there are huge inequalities and a lack of understanding within the field of mental health. The Mental Health Foundation focuses on skills and resources needed to create mentally healthy communities by carrying out sustained and radical action to advocate for change using evidence-based solutions.
Everybody has mental health, but some of us are affected adversely by mental health issues as they affect 1 in 4 people each year. I'm hoping that on this journey, I'll challenge myself, improving my own mental health and inspire and encourage others.
A massive thank you to all the amazing people who have donated to my past fundraising efforts, I appreciate you so much!!!
