Edinburgh Marathon 2007 · 27 May 2007 ·
We are embarking upon a summer of exertion in aid of the Hospice of Hope. At the end of May we are running the Edinburgh marathon and two weeks later we are doing the 70 Wild Miles which involves 47 miles of cycling, 10 miles kayaking and 13 miles running (uphill). The kayaking could be tricky - eskimo roll will need to be perfected...
We are paying all costs ourselves, hiring of equipment, travel and accommodation etc. All monies raised will go directly to the Hospice of Hope.
December 1989 saw the Romanian peoples' revolution end 40 years of brutal dictatorship under Nicolae Ceaucescu. Despite the many advances that have been made since then, much of the country still suffers from that devastating legacy. 45% of the population still live in poverty and if you have a terminal illness you are often sent home from hospital alone, without any support of relief from pain and suffering.
Hospice of Hope has already provided care for over 7,000 patients in Romania since 1992 and is building on the success of establishing Hospice Casa Sperantei in Brasov. Hospice of Hope has started to provide the training, coordination, advice and financial support required to establish other hospice organisations in Romania and the surrounding countries.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Hospice of Hope Romania will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please dig deep and sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
