Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page in honour of Anne.

A group of Anne's friends and colleagues are hoping to raise £1,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. Anne sadly passed away as a result of this devastating disease. Those of us who were privileged to visit Anne over the past few months witnessed her face NMD in the same way that she worked and lived; project managed with strength, dignity, humour and resilience.

Before retiring last year, Anne worked for the Council from 2005, latterly as Building Design Group Manager. Many will recall that Anne managed the redevelopment of Bridlington Spa. Before she died, we talked to her about fundraising and she wanted us to start and finish a sponsored walk at The Spa.

The 18 mile sponsored walkwill take place on Saturday 26 September, 2020starting at the Spa at 09.30, and hopefully finishing around 17.00.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal rapidy progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, attacking the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. It is a devastating disease that afffects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and kills six people every day. There is no cure. The NMD Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on NMD care, research and campaigning. The NMD Association provided support for Anne.

Denise Davies, Head of Community Fundraising at the NMD Association said, "Without the amazing support of people like Simon, Gail, Helen, Carol, Janette, Suzanne and Helena, the MND Association simply would not be able to provide its vital support services, fund research to find a cure and campaign and raise awareness of MND. Together we are making a real difference for people affected by this devastating disease."
