I volunteered to run the virtual London marathon over lovely Dartmoor to support BASICS Devon as they volunteer their time and energy to help our local community through medical crises. Several of these volunteer doctors are my close colleagues. I hugely respect them giving more of their personal time to provide medical care, when I know how amazing they already are at work in their day jobs. Thank you BASICS volunteers, from a supportive member of your community. 

2020 and 2021 have not been any of our finest years I’m sure, but for me personally, the opportunity to regain my former enjoyment of running and being outside lots has truly given me a focus when times have seemed tough. This will NOT be my fastest marathon ever, but it will be the one that helps me through 2021 and helps others, hopefully, to benefit from funds raised for BASICS Devon .
