Story
I have now completed The Wayfarer's Way Walk a 71 mile walk from Inkpen Beacon near Hungerford to Emsworth Harbour near Chichester. I send huge thanks to everyone who has supported me, encouraged me and helped me exceed my target of raising over £1,000 for Freedom from Torture. This was a bit of a challenge at times, particularly walking 14 miles on two consecutive days, but nothing compared to the journeys that torture survivors and refugees have had to make in the hope of reaching safety.
This challenge, taking place between Good Friday and International Day of Living Together in Peace, was set up by Freedom from Torture a wonderful charity that supports survivors of torture who manage to get to the UK. As well as having to cross rivers and seas, many survivors have to take long journeys over land to reach safety. The challenge honours those who make these journeys and builds on the brilliant success of last years Crossing Over Water Challenge.
I've been an active supporter of Freedom from Torture since 2009 and I know what fantastic work they do providing counselling and therapy to hundreds of people after the unimaginable experiences that drove them to flee their homes.
Thank you for joining me in supporting Freedom from Torture to ensure many more people can experience the safe, secure and happy lives they hope for.
