Well we did it! It was a very hot day in Lugano, 37 degrees and perfect swimming weather. We were taken to the start line by ferry and the distance seemed daunting. There were a record number of participants, over 500 so the start was very busy but after that the swimmers stretched out and it was easier to get into a rhythm. The first 500m and the last were the hardest, somehow the finishing line didnt seem to be getting much closer! John Mark finished the 2.5km stretch in 56 minutes and Annie in 58 minutes so both under the hour. Annamaria and Ginny in a respectable 1 hour 12 minutes.
