Bath Half Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.

In the past couple of years, too many people, whom I love dearly, have had their lives changed by strokes.  And too many more people I dearly love, live with an increased risk of stroke.

I am not a runner, and training for the Bath Half has consistently felt way beyond my capabilities. But this challenge is not about me. I have taken inspiration from those whom I know are working so relentlessly to adapt and recover.  Every run is a privilege I acknowledge, and however slow and inelegant this attempt may be, I hope the money raised here will fund that critical step in research to take treatments to new levels and to fund support for all those living with, and around, strokes.

Thank you for donating.
