Story

On September 4th 2016 I got the devastating news that I have cancer. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leaukemia and knew from that point forward everything would change. The months following were extremely difficult and I suffered awful side effects due to the chemotherapy. I ended up with a blood clot in my brain which lead to me having numerous seizures and strokes. Things began getting better but I still had to deal with numerous types of chemotherapy daily, some chemo which is now every 3 months of which are injections into my spine whilst I am under anaesthetic. I also had many more tablets besides my chemo and really I became like a little tablet box. It wasn't only the physical side of cancer which took its toll but also mental. You have to deal with factors that are beyond a 16 year olds worst nightmares and see things not even the most strong minded person should not see. It has been extremely tough and my treatment will carry on till December 2018. As well as my cancer I now face new challenges as we have recently found out I have Oculta spina bifida. Although I've been lucky in the sense spina bifida leaves many in a wheelchair it does make them daily tasks that little bit more challenging. I also have a number of problems with my bones due to steroids that will be an on going thing even after treatment ends. Although I'm going through all this you just have to keep positive and one charity that has helped my confidence massively is the teenage cancer trust. The teenage cancer trust funds special wards in which teenagers can be around other people around that age group of whom know what you're going through and fund amazing people like my youth co-ordinator Nicky who are there for you 24/7. Cancer is very isolating and people like Nicky help you come to terms with the challenges and keep you positive. The TCT also fund trips for us to go out with other Teenagers facing cancer and help to bring normality back into your life. The teenage cancer trust has been amazing and such a vital part of my recovery and now I feel like I need to give back. I need to help other teenagers facing the horrible news they have cancer and that is why I've set up this page. I will be doing different fundraisers over the next few months and hope that you will help me get to my goal of raising as much money as possible for such an outstanding charity. I will be posting updates when I do offline events and would be over the moon if you could donate to such an amazing cause, even if that donation is only small every little helps.

Thank you:) xx
