Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.
The BHF has a very special place in my heart (excuse the pun!) for 2 reasons…
My dad, who has been a keen sportsman all his life, was diagnosed with atrial fibrilation in 2012. He had completed 5 Cycle events for the BHF and was training for a 100k event when he felt unwell. Cardio version failed to restore his normal heart rhythm but medication helped control this until, during the Covid period, whilst out for a run with the dog, he had a mild heart attack. He continued to be monitored but had reached a point where after a short walk he was breathless and in pain. After a heart stress test a few months later he was admitted for an emergency stent operation. Continued monitoring showed his heart was stopping at night for up to 6 seconds so he he opted for a second cardio version. This also failed to restore normal rhythm. His only option was a pacemaker. He has had the pacemaker for 18 months now and is able to play tennis, cycle and play golf and get on with normal life. Thanks to research and support from the BHF all these treatments have been possible.
My lovely friend, Laura, suffered a Cardiac Arrest aged 40. She now had a S-ICD to assist her body should she need it..
It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatment and discover new cures for amazing people like My Dad and Laura. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
