Story

Hello, I’m Anne. Welcome to my JustGiving page, which I have set
up to raise money for Parkinson’s UK by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September
2015.

Parkinson's Disease has had, and will continue to have, a great impact on my family. My Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 8 years ago, and his Mother (my Grandmother) had also suffered from it. For now, my Dad manages to keep the symptoms mostly under control thanks to medication, so he can still do most of the things he enjoys (walking, cycling, singing in a choir, and many other activities including all the ordinary things we take for granted). But the progress of the condition is inevitable, and until a cure is found, the only way to deal with this is to make the most of the present, while providing for but not thinking too much about the future.

It is thanks to funding from charities such as
Parkinson’s UK that research continues into more advanced medications and
ultimately finding a cure for this debilitating disease.

If my sponsorship
money goes even the smallest step towards funding research into finding a cure,
increasing understanding of Parkinson’s Disease, or helping to provide support
and information to sufferers and their families, it will be more than worth the
effort.

So in September 2015, I will travel to Tanzania
and attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro (a mere 5,895m
high). I have no doubt that this will be an enormous challenge and is going to
require a lot of training, time, effort and determination. You can follow my
training and preparation progress on my blog: www.anniemaggiemay.com.

I am paying for the trip costs myself so all money raised will go directly to Parkinson's UK.

In the meantime you will also find me:
