Story

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support. Thank you.

About why I am running in this Half Marathon:

I love to get out running, particularly in nature and scenic areas. Running serves many purposes for me, including respite from parenting ... as well as setting a great example for my children, connection to nature, which I find therapeutic and excellent for my mental health as well as my physical health both of which of are of high importance to me and I find it rather meditative and calming, even though it pushes my cardiovascular system beyond comfort at times!!!

However, like many of us, I do struggle with prioritising time for myself to do things like go for a run! so by setting myself a time bound challenge that supports a worthy charity, it helps me to make time in my days / weeks to schedule in my fitness - because I know how painful the result is of not being fit enough to run the distance and I have a target amount of money to raise. I am quite competitive, so would like to run a decent time (for me) aaand I'd like to think also that it would be possible to beat Fraser's time, however, his legs a twice the length of mine and he is painfully naturally athletically gifted!! so perhaps not possible - I can however attempt to beat his fundraising amount with a bit more ease!!

If you can support me in this run by donating to support Ronald McDonald House Charities UK any amount big or small I would very grateful indeed ❤
