Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our mum, Ann, passed away peacefully at home on 11th August 2022, aged 80 years.  Beloved wife to Derek, dearly loved mum, sister, nanny, great-nanny and friend to many. Taken only 5 weeks after a diagnosis of inoperable stomach & oesophageal cancer, she is now at rest.

Our mum was an inspirational lady to so many with her work, support & her involvement with local groups & charities. Her family was at the heart of everything she did and on 8th October some of the family are planning a 25km memorial walk from Eastbourne to Seaford across the Seven Sisters and the cliff tops close to where we grew up.

Weather dependent, we may extend our walk and continue on to finish at Newhaven lifeboat station. The lifeboat has featured heavily in our lives with dad completing 37 years of active service as lifeboat crew at Newhaven and both active members of the Newhaven lifeboat fundraising committee.

We are walking on this occasion for Martlets Hospice, whose amazing support allowed mum to fulfil her final wishes to spend her last days at home surrounded by her loved ones. Their ‘Hospice at Home’ care was exceptional and the support to our family has been incredible.

We would be grateful for any donation you are able to make as this will help Martlets Hospice continue to provide their many services to other families.
