Story
Thank you so much for visiting this just giving page.
We are raising funds for 'Médecins San Frontieres' (MSF) which translates as 'Doctors without Borders' - a charity which has been working for over 50 years to provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare across the world.
The news from Ukraine has made a huge impact on everyone and Ann Williams, who lived through the Second World War and has seen the effects of war on innocent people first hand, is passionate about raising awareness and funds for the people living through this horrendous ordeal in order to help ease their suffering and bring them some hope.
A carriage pulled by four Dartmoor Hill Ponies (Qutie, Pebble, Rory & Marble - all brothers and sisters) bred and trained by Ann Williams and driven by her granddaughter Storm McNulty will travel across Dartmoor on 17th May 2022 to raise funds for MSF and the work they are doing in Ukraine. They plan to follow the route taken by Uncle Tom Cobley and his grey mare (from the local folk song 'Widecombe Fair') from Spreyton to Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a trip of 18 miles across Dartmoor.
The ponies are beautiful to see and love their job. We hope that the sight of them trotting through country lanes, over green fields and spring flowers on the moor will inspire an image of hope and a sense of generosity in people who can see and enjoy these simple luxuries to give generously to those for whom this is just a distant memory.
