Vitality London 10000 2018 · 28 May 2018 ·

Our fantastic team of runners will be taking part in the Vitality London 10,000 on the 28 May 2018 to raise money for our impactful work.

Story

Hi all! So, on May 28th, I will be running the Vitality 10K in London to raise funding for a non-profit organisation called Engineers Without Borders (EWB).

As an organisation, EWB work to promote STEM and engineering careers through various outreach programs as well as facilitate engineering projects that support growth in communities across the World where it is most needed; their belief that "engineering should be about solving problems for people" is reflected in many of the engineering projects that they have led.

One such project aims to install solar power in rural Peru, which will provide easy access to electricity. As a result, these communities will be able to progress in education, health and economic sectors. Also, it's a carbon-neutral source of energy! It truly is the way forward! If you wish to support EWB's mission and this project, please make a donation you feel comfortable with. The money that you give will go towards:

 - Funding a volunteering opportunity for the installation of solar power in rural Peru and similar international projects.
 -
Inspiring a classroom full of pupils in Science Engineering Technology and Maths (STEM).
 -
Engaging future engineers to consider the social impact of engineering with an Engineers Without Borders UK lecture.

You will be making a difference at a global scale by supporting EWB; and even if you are not doing the work on site (it is Peru after all!), I think we can all derive happiness from the fact that any form of support is helping to light up someone's world out there.

I will also try to keep you updated with my training! Thanks for visiting my page, and for any kind donations!

EWB's Story:

People everywhere should be able to enjoy the benefits of engineering and live a life free from poverty. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Within our global community, 1.2 billion people are still living in extreme poverty and 2.3 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services. Engineers Without Borders UK is working hard to change this by bringing people, ideas and engineering together to deliver solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Together, we can engineer change.
