Utange Orphans Charity raises funds to relieve the needs of children and young people, particularly orphans, in Utange, Kenya. The funds raised in the UK are used to run an orphanage (Casuarina House) which is home to 23 children and a feeding programme for over 500 children.

Story

This year I'm running the London Marathon to fundraise for the charity that my mum founded in Kenya. Specifically, to raise funds for Feed500, which provides 500 orphans and vulnerable children with a hot meal once a week, and where flour is given out which the children take home to support with meals for the week ahead.

This year the price of maize flour has almost doubled in Kenya, and it's meant that the charity have had to cut back on the amount of flour that they give out to the children, for the first time in the ten years since the project began.

For me, the London Marathon is a big challenge. Prior to receiving my ballot spot, I'd only run a 5k once, and was never a natural runner. So any donations and support are gratefully received to help me through the 26.2 miles! Thank you!
