Story

My whole class are still buzzing from the WONDERFUL day.  IF we can engage children in this way every day what an amazing future these children have. Thank you and keep up your inspirational work ‘Thumbs down to noise abatement’ and thumbs up to musical excellence!” – Wiltshire teacher after the Anthem for a Child tour

Anthem for a Child is the OAE’s most ambitious education project to date and our first truly national programme.

From January to June 2012, the OAE’s Education team will lead workshops and a tour of performances to nine centres across the country from Devon to York and including a large number of inner-city London schools.

Many of these 5000 children will never have experienced the thrill of working and performing alongside an Orchestra before.
It will be a life changing experience for them.

“I don’t play an instrument and I’m inspired by you to play one.”
“The performance day was absolutely brilliant. I was so happy at the end. It couldn’t be improved. Best day of my life.”

Pupils after OAE Schools Concerts and workshops.

Make that difference. Inspire 5000 children.

Here is some more of the great feedback we have received after the Anthem for a Child tour:

This has been an incredible experience for the children and adults in the school.  It has made the singing a focus of the community and given us a great reputation in the area, and as a result we are making a CD of songs we like to sing to sell for funds towards more projects involving music.” – Plymouth teacher

We really enjoyed the whole experience.  The musicians who visited the school were excellent with the children and the concert was a really inspirational event.  Thank you very much.” – Plymouth Teacher

We all had a super day.  The tuition was very enjoyable and the concert great fun for all.  The children were inspired by the orchestra with many saying they didn’t realise orchestras could be such fun.  The battle piece had great ‘boy appeal’! Thank  you very much” – Totnes teacher

The enthusiasm of all members met inspired myself and the children.  Wonderful opportunity for our children to be involved with.  Thank you!” – Southampton Teacher

I have (and the class have) been completely inspired by your project.  It has had an enormously positive impact on such a large number of children – congratulations to you all – what an achievement!” – Plymouth teacher
