Story

My reasons for setting this page up?

First - Scott, Dave and Jon, my three sons, who've done similar feats in the past and whom I'm incredibly proud of, and as I drifted (contentedly) towards part time retirement I realized it was time the old man stopped drifting and stepped up too.

Secondly - young carers do a fantastic job, looking after family members who need assistance. They are largely unsung heroes and heroines who represent the very best of what it means to be a human being and they deserve at least a bit of what most young people take for granted. We've supported them in the past and want to do so again.

Thirdly swimming the channel (even if it is just a mile a time) in our local pool  will hopefully do me good too, lose some weight and increase my (dubious) fitness.

And finally, for the statistically (or maybe that should be sadistically) minded of you, here are the plain unvarnished facts - the 21 mile swimfrom Dover to Cap Gris-Nez (the shortest point across the English Channel is 33.5km or 1,340 lengths of Bletchley's 25mswimming pool. And I aim to complete my "channel swim" before September 22nd! And today - July 30th - I completed mile number one!!
