Robin Hood Marathon & Half Marathon · 12 September 2010 ·

The RFL Benevolent Fund provides relief for people who have been injured whilst playing or training for rugby football league.

Story

Earlier this year Tony Colliinson ran the Belfast Marathon and raised £317 for the Benevolent Fund in a time of 3hr 12min 59 secs.  Now he is getting fit to run the Nottingham Marathon on the 12th September.

Tony says "I started running marathons and half marathons in 2002 following a life threatening injury I sustained in Las Vegas in 2001 following an accident in Las Vegas where I was hit by a hit and run driver.  I broke my C1 vertebra in my neck in 4 places. I also fractured my skull and had two brain haemorrhages, I had many more injuries but too many to mention. "
"I have run for many charities in the past raising over £35000 for various children and children’s charities.  Pete Stephenson was my inspiration for Benevolent Fund, having been a former professional Rugby League player for Hull FC and amateur with West Hull and Skirlaugh myself.  I really enjoyed doing Belfast Marathon in aid of Benevolent Fund and have other plans for same charity."
