Nine years ago my heart started failing: many aspects of my life became limited, like going up slopes and stairs, travelling to work, losing appetite, and I had to stop my regular swimming altogether. I was told I only had a few years to live without a heart transplant. I was fortunate to receive this at Papworth Hospital, and the whole thing went swimmingly. 

Now I am fortunate to be fitter than I have been for years! I have resumed a very busy life, including swimming. To show my gratitude for the amazing treatment and care I received, I plan to swim 60 lengths (2 km) or more at Harrow Leisure Centre to raise money for Papworth Hospital Charity, to benefit patient care and research.
