In 1982 at the ripe old age of 21 I ran (or rather plodded) the very first Berko half marathon. Since then I have put on weight, slowed down, and worn out joints, but have decided to run it one last time for charity. DENS is based locally and provides services for those that have hit hard times, including accommodation, meals, washing facilities and a food bank. Unsurprisingly it is finding the demand for its services is increasing hugely during the cost of living crisis, while its operating costs continue to rise (energy, fuel etc.). So they need help now more than ever. I have visited their operations and was very impressed with what they do, and how they do it, seeking to provide sustainable solutions to people's problems. Hence this rash decision. Any support you can give will be gratefully received.
