Story
Anthony was a competitive rower and was intending to row 70 miles in a day to mark his 70th birthday. But an arm injury put paid to rowing, so, always a keen cyclist, he has been building up his cycling since then, and did the 100 mile "Insanity" event in May (wearing crocs !) and is entered for the 100 mile "Tour de Broads" on Aug 21st. Cycling past so many of Norfolk's beautiful churches sowed the seed of the idea to cycle to 70 rural churches for the Norfolk Churches Trust . It will be a long, hard day's cycling, but worthwhile if it helps to raise awareness of the N.C.T., and raises a useful sum for much needed repairs.
The Norfolk Churches Trust does amazing work in helping to save the fabulous medieval churches of Norfolk, of which there are over 600, the largest concentration anywhere in the world. Anyone who has visited Norfolk will appreciate what an important part they play in the local landscape. They are well worth a visit as they house a wealth of architectural and historical interest. without the grants that the Norfolk Churches Trust gives many would have been lost and many are currently at serious risk without continued financial help.
