Story
In February, 2012, I lost a good friend to an illness called depression. Young, fit, handsome, loyal, funny, smart and a young man with a bright future. The only trouble was that he couldn't see that future. All he could see was the constant hurdles that life kept throwing at him, and on the 28th February 2012 he decided that he couldn't take anymore.
In the week leading up to this, he told me that he was going to seek professional help to combat his depression. This was a bolt out of the blue. He'd never mentioned being depressed before and he was the very last person I would have considered to have this illness. However, it still wasn't enough to strike the right chord in me. Depression isn't that serious an illness is it? One week later I found that not to be the case.
Depression can strike the strongest of people, and can hit in many ways. I'm asking you to support me in my health kick. Weight loss, fitness gain and stopping smoking. Sounds easy but for those who know me.....well it's far from the truth. In donating for this cause, you're not just supporting me. You're supporting those people who have been diagnosed with depression. More importantly, raising awareness to support those who don't even know they're suffering from it.
Thanks
Tony
