Story
In June 2022 my Dad, Dave Smallwood, suddenly passed away at just 63 years of age. 11 years before, he suffered a heart attack in a remote part of the Lake District and was airlifted to Barrow Hospital 30 miles away. Even after arriving in Barrow he was only given a small chance of survival but against all odds made a near full recovery. Without the amazing work of the North West Air Ambulance me and my family would not have had those 11 extra years with our amazing Dad. We will never be able to thank this amazing charity enough!
This charity remains close to my family and it is important to so many others that have relied on its service, which is why I am running the Liverpool Half Marathon to raise money for it.
The North West Air Ambulance Charity receives no government or NHS funding and has to raise £9.5 million every year to keep operational. I am running the Liverpool Half Marathon to make a life saving difference and ensure the most advanced medical crew and equipment can continue to be there for people across the North West when they need it most. The North West Air Ambulance bring the hospital to the patient and can provide surgical interventions, blood transfusions as well as lifesaving procedures at the roadside to increase the chance of survival. Every penny makes a difference to the work that the charity can do so thank you for your support.
