Ben Nevis Challenge

My name is Tony Tamblin and on the weekend of 20th and 21st June I am taking on the Challenge of climbing up to the summit of Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the British Isles.

Standing at 1,344 metres (4,409 feet) above sea level, it is located at the western end of the Grampian Mountains in the Lochaber area of the Scottish Highlands, close to the town of Fort William.

This is a huge challenge for me as its not something Ive ever undertaken before and it will be the first time I have been outside of Devon.

Although I ride a bike to work every day and my job means I get plenty of exercise this challenge isn’t something I would take lightly.

And I am determined that the 4,409 feet ascent up to the top of Ben Nevis will be an experience that I will remember all my life – so I need to make sure Im ready for it and  so I will be heading up to Dartmoor most weekends from now until June.

My first walk was a two hour hike up and around Sheepstor.  And over the next few months the walks will become longer and the climbs more difficult.

I have supported the Chestnut Appeal before when along with a couple of friends cycled the 103 miles coast to coast across Devon and have also volunteered at the Breakwater Swim and the Urban Downhill event.

And I thought it was time to do something that would benefit me – in a healthy way and benefit the charity by raising funds and awareness.

So please, please, please take a moment to donate something to this great charity.  Thank you for your support

Tony
