Story
Hi all - thanks for visiting!
Update (18/05/10): I completed the walk on Saturday - in 8 hours and 20 minutes - half an hour quicker than last year! Mark, the chairman of WDSSG, also came to meet me at the end of the walk - thanks very much Mark!
Thanks again to all of the people who have sponsored me - the page will stay open for a while yet, so no-one has missed out!
Update (11/05/10): Thank you all very much - I have now hit my target! But that is no excuse to stop donating, would be great to see how much cash I can still raise! :-)
Update (05/05/10): Am now up to 90% - thanks very much everyone. I am increasingly positive I will beat this target as well. Had a 32km in preparation and am still standing - so all looks good!
Update (23/04/10): Well thanks to some great donations, it looks like the £300 pound target should get hit quite easily, so in the spirit of competition I have raised it to £500! I am quite confident there are enough lovely people out there to make it happen. :-)
Update (23/04/10): Big thanks to everyone again, over half the target now! Keep it up - I'd like to see the target sorely beaten! :-)
Update (19/04/10): Thanks all very much for your sponsorship - now over a third of the way there already!
On the 15th May I will be walking 40km accross the South Downs in aid of the 'Worster Drought Syndrome Support Group' (www.wdssg.org.uk), their aims being to provide support, raise awareness and promote research into the 'Worster Drought Syndrome'.
WDS is a rare form of Cerebral Palsy which mainly causes problems with the mouth, tongue and swallowing muscles. It is not well recognised, and as I have a cousin with the syndrome, I thought I would do my part, so please get donating! :-)
I have some new walking boots for this year so am hoping for a more pleasant walking experience than last year (where I had to rush out and buy some new shoes the day before - shoe rubbing heaven!). I have already tested them on a reasonably long walk an the results were:
"Mmmmmmmm"
So that's good.
I should really leave some of the default text in, so here it is:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
And to echo that last point: 'Please did deep and donate now'. I think you get the picture. :-)
Thanks!
Ant.
