As you all know in October 2008 our lives changed forever when on the birth of our son Jude, he was diagnosed with the chromosome abnormality Down's Syndrome. 

From this day Ruth and I and our children faced the future as possible life long carers for little Jude. What other families take for granted, like the simple task of getting their child's shoes on, quickly popping to the shops, getting ready for bed or a spontaneous day out can be an assault course let alone a challenge for not only us as parents but Jude's 3 siblings. Yet they accept their brother with unconditional love, shower him with kindness and their hands are always outstretched ready to help him. 

Carers Worldwide is a wonderful charity that supports families that care for family members or friends in developing countries. Caring is such an important part of life. It's simply part of being human.  Carers are holding families together, enabling loved ones to get the most out of life. It is a difficult task and a huge responsibility being a carer, even more so in a country where social and economic development is poor. 

Jude is at the center of our family, in fact holding us all together. Yes it has been so very very hard at times. So very sad. So very scary. But we all still have a smile on our faces. Jude makes us happy, Jude makes us learn and Jude shows us how simple love, support and kindness is all he needs.
