Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am setting myself a difficult physical challenge that represents the internal struggle that those with a disability face daily for the simplest of tasks.

The Challenge is to climb the four storey stairway, at the City of Glasgow Rogart Street Campus 5 times for each 1 time it is climbed by any participating staff member.

This challenge will last for one week, but the amount of times the participating staff member may climb the stairs during that week is limitless.

Those struggling with a disability, sometimes don't have the ability to choose freely, there are things that can't be achieved without help. If the help isn't supplied then things go undone, important opportunities get missed, but most importantly life is compromised. All to often the help that does come to the disabled is woven with unspoken conditions.

By doing this challenge I am hoping to increase the awareness of the uphill battle that millions of people in this country face when:

Trying to cook your their dinner

Trying to tie their shoe laces

Trying to remember where the toilet is

Trying to hear instructions

Trying to write a letter

etc etc etc
